| Basketball Tryout Information
You must have a VBMSL sports physical on file in the student activites office in order to tryout. It MUST be on this form. Please call Mr. Murray at 648-4421 with questions.
Girls basketball tryouts will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 14th from 3:50-5:30 PM for all grades.
Boys basketball tryouts will be on the following days:
6th graders - Wednesday, Nov. 14th from 3:50-5:30 PM
7th graders - Thursday, Nov. 15th from 3:50-5:30 PM
8th graders - Friday, Nov. 16th from 3:50-5:30 PM
Academic Challenge tryouts will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14th in room 701 |
Yearbook Make-up pictures
Students will only take make-up pictures if they meet one of the following criteria:
1 - They were absent on the original picture date (Oct. )
2 - They odered pictures, but would like to have them redone. These students must bring in their original package and give it back to the photographer.
3 - They would like to order new pictures. These students must come down with their order form with money.
Pictures will be taken in the auditorium the morning of Nov. 15th.
6th and 8th graders will take them as soon as they get off the bus in the morning and 7th graders will take them during their first bell elective (9:15 a.m.). Pictures will be over by 10:00 AM.

Booster
Shots - Required For All Rising 6th Grade Students
Effective with the start of the 2006-07 school year, rising 6th
graders and students who will be in sixth grade on or after July
1, 2006 are required to have a tetanus, pertussis, and diphtheria
booster, prior to entry to sixth grade in the fall or no later
than November 1, 2006. If such a vaccine has been received in
the last five years (since January 2001) this booster is not required.
Documentation of this vaccine may appear as DPT, T, Td Dtap, and
/or Tdap (7/18/06). Documentation needed for schedule to start. No grace period or extension. |
| 6 SEMESTER RULE (NEW ELIGIBILITY RULE) - In order to represent your school in any interscholastic contest you must not have been enrolled in the last three years of middle school for a period of more than six consecutive semesters, beginning with the semester in which he/she was enrolled for the first time in the sixth grade. Please read the first page of the physical form for more individual eligibility rules or contact Mr. Murray in the Student Activities office. |

Basic Supply List
6th Grade
Every 6th grader will need the following school supplies to successfully begin the school year. Please understand that this is only a “basic” list…additional materials (that are team specific) will be required. Team teachers will distribute a more detailed list to your child within the first week of school.
- Two (2-3 inch) 3-ring binders
- Divider tabs for binders
- Notebook paper for binders
- Highlighters
- Pencil pouch for writing utensils
- Pencils
- Pens (blue or black only)
- Colored pencils
- 1 composition notebook (not spiral notebook!)

- 1 large 3-ring binder with dividers (6th Grade Only)

- Science safety googles ($4, cash only, may be purchased from Science teacher)

2008 Yearbook
| YEARBOOK orders for the 2007-2008 SPIRIT
yearbook can be made during Orientation, Open House, or any school
day during the month of September. Yearbooks will be in limited supply
this year so make sure you order your student's yearbook early. |
Vital Information
- The
cost for P.E. uniforms is $7 per piece ($14 total) - cash only. Uniforms may also be purchased
during PE classes at the beginning of the school year.
- Tuesday, September 4th, is the first day of school.
- School hours are 9:10 am until 3:40 pm for students. Students
are considered late and must be signed in, by a parent, at
the front desk after 9:00 am.
- Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:15 am until 4:15 pm.
- Bus schedules will appear in the Beacon section of the Virginian-Pilot
at the end of August or be referred to the "School Bus
Schedules" button on the Bayside Middle School web site.
- Prepare to join our PTA during Orientation or Open House
nights. Membership is only $4.00, cash only.
- Students will be receiving a student planner, free of charge,
during the first week of school. Students are required to
carry their planners at all times and the fee to replace a
lost planner is $6, cash only. The planner includes dress
code, school rules, school calendar, etc. Please review this
planner carefully with your student.
- Applications for free/reduced lunch will be sent home the
first week of school. Students must reapply each year to qualify
for free/reduced lunch.
